California and Gay Marriage
May. 15th, 2008 10:14 pm So, the California Supreme Court has decided that prop. 22 is uconstitutional. That's the one passed a few years ago that outlawed gay marraige. Yay...No one is trying to destroy heterosexual marraige. Nice to know we can have the same rights as everyone else in the state.
Now I'm not particularly a political type person. For the most part, I could care less, but there are some things that just need to be changed. Bush needs to go, and will, thank goodness. The kids who are over in Iraq fighting for no good reason need to be brought home. And people need to have equal rights. Everyone!
Well, there's a group of people who are trying to get signatures to put a bill on November's ballot to outlaw gay marraige. I think they've missed something here. Guys, the Supreme Court just said the last proposition was unconstitutional. What makes them think they can rewrite it so it won't be unconstitutional.
Now my partner and I can decide if we want to be married by the state. We've been together 15 years. Ultimately, except for some things, it doesn't matter. Neither of us is going anywhere. We're happy.
Peace
