My Thought Processes

Did you know that you could be fired in this country for your political beliefs? Well, you can. My partner a long time Catholic school teacher was placed on administrative leave today because she answered a question about Prop. 8. (California's marriage proposition). The student asked if she was happy it passed, (8th grade student), and she said no. She explained the Catholic Church's postition on the proposition and that she did not agree. End of discussion and on with the science lesson for the day. This is a class she had taught in 6th grade and the parents threatened to pull their students from the school if M was not teaching this year. The principal tried to pull her out of the classroom.

This is not going to end well. We've basically accepted that M will not be returning to that school, but she's not going down without a fight. This was the only reason given for the leave, no other. She is and has always been a completely honest and excellent teacher. Any ideas you may have for us would be welcome. We do have a few ideas but it is Friday so most have to wait til Monday.
