Sigh...

I grew up (more or less) in San Francisco. I was an Army brat and we were stationed there twice and that's where my dad retired. So, in what is supposed to be the most liberal state in the country, a proposition banning gay marriage passes. Oh, but wait, we're still liberal - we also passed a proposition that requries that farm animals to be used as food are treated humanely. Now, don't get me wrong, I voted for that proposition. I can't stand the thought of any animal being mistreated, even if it is destined to be food. But what does it say about our 'great' state of California when animals are treated better and with more respect than human beings who really only want the same rights as everyone else?

I'm very disappointed in those who voted to pass this proposal. I'm not trying to do anything to traditional marriage, I just want the same rights you have for me and my partner. Well, it's not over. Perhaps California will come to its senses. To all those who worked against Prop 8 and voted against it, I thank you. And I still pray for the day when all people are treated equally.
Peace
